Under the authority of the Prime Minister, the Minister of Health and Public Hygiene prepares and implements the policy defined by the Head of State in the areas of health, prevention, hygiene, and social action.

In this capacity, the Minister is responsible for ensuring that quality healthcare is accessible to all Senegalese, whether they live in urban or rural areas.

The Minister promotes the training of doctors and healthcare personnel and facilitates their deployment in underserved areas.

The Minister ensures the supply of quality medicines and the coverage of the population’s health needs. They oversee public health establishments and ensure their proper functioning.

The Minister is responsible for preparing and enforcing legislation and regulations relating to medical, paramedical, and pharmaceutical professions.
